Zynga - Connecting the world through games

It was only a matter of time before we’d get to review what can be argued as the most succesful phenomenon of online gaming ever to be seen. Zynga saw from the early moments how popular Facebook and other social networking sites were going to be and they weren’t wrong in their decision to jump on the bandwagon.

With many of their gaming platforms from Mafia Wars to Farmville, Zynga Poker, Empires and Allies and more each one of the communities within the community of Facebook et al have as many as 20 million plus addicted players who lose themselves in the world of fantasy game play. What’s so special about these games? Nothing if truth be known except for one key ingredient, they each are a community unto themselves and play great strenght on this. People from all walks of life, regardless of age colour or creed join together with the common goal of meeting people they would otherwise probably never meet. The introduction of live chat in Mafia Wars for instance has now created extra strenght to the family clans that are the vogue of what was quickly becoming a labourious game. Zynga never keep surprising us and with relatively stict criteria they manage to keep on top of most issues although to be fair with millions hitting their servers every minute of the day its an almost impossible task to expect them to keep everyone of its users happy all of the time.

As a player of mafia wars I am a confessed addict, there you go, I’m outta the closet. Mind you none of my MW friends or family know I am an editor on here otherwise they’d be bombarding me with complaints because they keep losing to me. I’ll repeat what I said earlier. Zynga certainly do fall short when it comes to support but I don’t think even they expected to grow as fast as they did so to keep up with innovative game play and ideas is a feat in itself. Watch this space, we would not be surprised to see if this becomes one of the more active of our topics in the months to come.

A big well done to Zynga, warts and all.
