		<description>I had ordered sandals - Birkenstocks - from this company twice in the last 10 years with good (though in one case, slow) results.  However, I had been told at that time that the sandal I wanted was on backorder, so I was satisfied.  

I wanted to purchase from them again, and decided to visit the place myself to choose an in-stock shoe, as my feet are hard to fit. Their website, which seems to be gone now, was still intact in March, 2011.  Since I was going to be in Maine in April, I printed off the information.  The day before I planned to go, I called to see when they would be open.  No answer.  I left a message and asked for a return call, which I did not get. The next day, I followed Google Map's directions to the address given on their home page.  I reached a residence in the heavily forested backcountry of rural Maine.  The house had a driveway with a snowbank at the end of it; no one had shoveled the lip of snow left by the snowplow, and it was still hard and iced over.  There was a hand printed sign on the door that said something like, "Birkenstocks. Ring bell and enter."  

I rang the bell, but the door was locked.  I tried the front door, no answer. As I drove away in frustration, a woman who was walking her dog rounded the corner, seemingly headed for the house but possibly going to a further home on the road.  I didn't bother to ask if the house I was leaving was hers, just kept driving.  I decided that if they were so unprofessional as to not return my call or leave a note stating when they would return, I might be better off finding my Birks elsewhere.  

This is the third website I have seen this morning where people have complained that S4L charged their credit card within a day, but months later, still have not sent their sandals.  Perhaps they should be investigated for fraud and credit card theft.

A comment on the above review: When the text is read carefully, it appears that the reviewer, "Cooper," may speak English as a second language, which in turn leads me to believe that "Cooper" may be a pseudonym. Example: "...based in the beautiful town of Maine."  Maine is a state, not a town, and if he meant to say that it was in A beautiful town IN Maine, he should have worded it that way.  It just makes the review appear suspect, so I understand why one of your earlier commenters seemed doubtful.

Returning to the main topic, my guess is that Sandals4Less has gone out of business, and that seems confirmed by the fact that I can no longer find their website.  Just thought you would want to know.  Thanks.

Colin, I have been a prosecutor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 15 years.  I am not prone to "vexatious" complaints, nor have I ever written to a comment page like this one. 

I ordered a pair of Birkenstock shoes from this company in July, 2009.  They charged my credit card, sent me a receipt and that receipt claimed that I would receive the shoes in 5 - 7 days.  When I did not receive the shoes in that time period, I too began e-mailing and calling.  I received one e-mail response in August 2009 indicating that the order was taking some time to fulfill due to the item not being in stock. 

Since then I have received no further communication and no shoes.  


I have called and left messages more than 10 times to no avail.  I have e-mailed with no response.  I contacted the Sheriff's department of Cumberland Maine who denies that there is a store at 12 Beech Road of this description. 

I lodged a Better Business Bureau complaint with the above facts today out of sheer frustration. 

Please do contact me if you need the complaint numbers, contacts at the Cumberland Sheriff's Office or other verifying information.

Please do not order from this vendor or recommend this vendor.</description>

No one EVER answers the phone. 3 emails have gone unanswered also. But would'nt you know they charged me $78.50 in no less than a week.  This company are not as good as they portray.  Check out other review sites...you'll see.</description>

No one responds to emails and no one answers the phone. 		<description>I will never order from this company again. It took over 7 weeks for us to get our order. We placed the order on 3/22/09. The sandals finally arrived on 5/15/09. I sent 10 emails and called daily (after waiting for the order for more than 2 weeks). If you call the company, you are only able to leave a voicemail. You are never able to talk with a live person. I never got a return email or phone call. I finally contacted the Better Business Bureau and they sent two letters to the company. I should have checked there first. The company has an F rating. 
 
If I could return the sandals for a refund, I would. I hate for them to keep my money. However, I'm afraid that I would never get a refund. 
 
Don't waste your time or money ordering from them. Order from a professional or responsible company such as Birkenstock Express or Zappos</description>
