Neuropathy information presented the Livestrong Foundation is the topic of this review and it is very much an important part of the Livestrong campaign. The Livestrong foundation was founded as a result of cycling legend Lance Armstrong, who’s amazing fight against cancer was, and continues to be an inspiration to millions. We won’t steal the thunder of the site, (not that we ever could) so would invite you read Lance’s story, and also read Lance’s blog where there are yet more inspirational stories of courage in the face of adversity, and while your at it why not join the Livestrong Army where you can get involved in this admirable and much deserved cause and help raise awareness.
We could write forever on the Livestrong Foundation and probably will write many an article on it in time, but the topic that was submitted to us wanted us to cover how the Livestrong foundation cover the topic of the medical condition of Neuropathy, which is what we’ll do. To help us do that we’ll take an extract from the site that describes the condition in a simple way…
“Neuropathy is a condition that affects the nerves of the body especially those of the legs and feet, the symptoms of which may include numbness, weakness, burning, or loss of reflexes. For detailed information click on this link.”
This informative section of the LiveStrong site is aimed at raising awareness of the condition of neuropathy, or nerve damage caused by or as a result of treatment of cancer. Its not intended to be an absolute guide but more a ’starting point’ for people to learn more about the condition. While there are several causes of Neuropathy the relevant one to cancer is predominantly what’s termed ‘peripheral neuropathy‘ which is a common type of neuropathy that occurs in people who have cancer.
The information written in collaboration with Dr. Arthur Foreman, M.D. although not a substitute nor an alternative from seeking medical advice on the condition from your own physician, is more of a complimentary and detailed article on the condition, its cause, its effects, symptoms and any treatments. The article is written with the patient very much in mind and is easy to digest which we thought quite impressive as its often very difficult to understand ‘Medical Speak’. The last thing a patient should have to endure is not being unable to understand what’s wrong with them, so this refreshing article and the manner its presented in goes a long way to preventing this and its simple but effective descriptions are very easy to understand.
After you’ve had the chance to digest the information on the subject you can then go on to read the suggestions which are aimed at helping you cope with your illness and treatment. In this section you’ll find many external links to organizations and Cancer Networks who are all there to help you in your recovery or with any other related question you might have. Readers of this article to please consider donating to this fantastic cause and to also give some thought to becoming a volunteer in the growing army of people who want to LIVE STRONG.
