Bigfish.com offers itself out as a complete Fishing Resource Center and online angling community providing content to fishing tackle retailers and acting as a showcase for the best fishing tackle deals anywhere in North America.   A comprehensive vertical portal offering everything for the angler whether a beginner or a seasoned professional this has to be one of the most comprehensive sites dedicated to one specific topic that we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing so far.

When you come across a site like this with so much content its often difficult to know where to start, and almost impossible to cover everything that the site does, so we’ll do our best to cover most areas.   BigFish offers a features area showcasing interactive sections of their site that aim to make your visit even more interesting and enjoyable.  Its understandable that BigFish are proud of this portal and boast of their ‘State of the Art’ features as they really do cover the topic of fishing as best as we’ve seen in a long time.

With a forum boasting almost 52,000 members, well over a thousand of them actively visiting the forum at the time of this review, this is one very popular site.   The forum covers a massive amount of sub forums covering as wide a range of subjects as you can imagine from freshwater fishing to saltwater fishing, from fishing with the fly to the more sedate trolling.  In fact the forum was so large it almost spoilt the site as it uses a poor narrow layout that means you have to scroll down a few fathoms just to reach the bottom its so big.  A small price to pay for having so much information perhaps.

We were taken hook line and sinker by the level of information in the features area which included offering facts such as the fishing records for each of the 50 United States.  This was the first clue that the site was predominantly aimed at the North American anglers for all the information it offers is restricted to this demographic.   This shouldn’t put any visitor off though because you never know when your likely to want to take up a fishing trip around the states and this site is one to offer you pretty much all the information your likely to need to make that trip as successful as possible.

The targeted audience of North American anglers are spoilt for choice here with virtually every angle covered, so much so it would be impossible to cover them all.  The site not only offers you access to its own shop but also stands as an advertising platform for some of the biggest brands and fishing stores across the country.  Covering everything from Camping equipment to Rod building supplies and services there’s pretty much everything you can think of.

There’s a great Articles section with over 400 articles there on a variety of topics from Boating Articles & Stories to Tournament Fishing reviews.  There’s even a couple of reviews on Ice Fishing that offer tips and tricks, including, ice drilling, ice fishing safety tips, ice fishing gear use, and ice fishing techniques.  Again, we could easily go on about this area but with so many articles to cover we think we’ll leave you to explore them at your leisure.

Something we had to mention before we finished the review was the BigFish Fun area where you can find an entertaining selection of cartoons, competitions, jokes and more.   There’s a special area especially for kids although at the time of this review it didn’t have anything in place except the message of its intentions to promote fishing stating that kids with healthy hobbies or extra curricular activities in school and sports are less likely to get in trouble with “Drugs or Alcohol”.  Something we agree with so the sooner this section gets set up the better.

In summary the site is arguably one of the best vertical portals for fishing of all kinds in North America and its not just the fisherman who could benefit from their visit here.  With such a large target audience the advertising potential here is something to behold and if your looking to get your product or service out to your targeted audience this is the place to be.   As we stated right from the start of the review, there’s simply so much information in this feature packed portal that we couldn’t possibly cover it all so we’ll let you enjoy the visit.
